Boris Becker Biography
Boris Becker was born in Leimen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the son of Elvira and Karl-Heinz Becker. Becker, named after the Russian poet and novelist Boris Pasternak, was raised as a Catholic. Becker learned to play tennis at a tennis center founded by his father, architect Karl-Heinz. He completed his secondary education at Heidelberg’s Helmholtz-Gymnasium. Elvira Becker, née Pisch, his Sudeten German mother, was from the Moravian village of Kunewald (Kunn).

Boris Franz Becker is a former world No. 1 tennis player from Germany. Becker won the gentlemen’s singles Wimbledon Championships at the age of 17 in 1985, making him the youngest ever winner. Becker won 49 singles and 15 doubles titles, including six Grand Slam singles titles: three Wimbledon Championships, two Australian Opens, and one US Open, as well as 13 Masters titles, three year-end championships, and leading Germany to back-to-back Davis Cup championships in 1988 and 1989. He is also one of the Top 10 players in ATP history with the highest win percentages. Both the ATP and the ITF named him Player of the Year in 1989.
Becker joined the TC Blau-Weiß Leimen tennis club in 1974 and began training with Boris Breskvar. By 1977, he was a member of the Baden Tennis Association’s junior team. He went on to win the South German championship as well as the inaugural German Youth Tennis Tournament.
Richard Schönborn chose him for the German Tennis Federation’s top junior team in 1978. Tennis magazine ranked Becker as the 11th best male player from 1965 to 2005. Becker was found guilty by the Munich District Court of intentionally lying about his place of residence on his personal income tax returns in order to save DM3.3 million.

After dating Karen Schultz from 1988 to 1991 and Cassandra Hepburn from 1991 to 1992, he began dating Barbara Feltus, whom he married on December 17, 1993, when she was eight months pregnant, at the registry office in his hometown of Leimen. They shocked some in Germany prior to their marriage by posing naked for the cover of Stern in a photograph taken by her father.
Noah Gabriel, named after Becker’s friends Yannick Noah and Peter Gabriel, was born on January 18, 1994. Elias Balthasar, their second child, was born on September 4, 1999. Becker acknowledged paternity of a daughter, Anna, with Russian waitress Angela Ermakova in February 2001, after the media reported that he had a child as a result of a sexual encounter in 1999. Becker had a brief relationship with Alessandra Meyer-Wölden [de] in 2008. Becker’s former adviser and manager, Axel Meyer-Wölden, was her father. The couple divorced in November 2008.
Becker was rumored to be dating British model Layla Powell in July 2019. He was in a relationship with Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro at the time of his 2022 conviction.
