Daniel César Martn Brühl González was born in Barcelona on June 16, 1978. Hanno Brühl, a German TV director and documentary filmmaker, was born in So Paulo, Brazil. Marisa González Domingo, a Spanish teacher, is his mother. Because his mother did not trust German doctors, he was born in Spain. His family relocated to Cologne, Germany, shortly after his birth, where he grew up. He has an older brother, Oliver, and a younger sister, Miriam. They were raised with Spanish, German, Catalan, and French as first languages. He went to the Dreikönigsgymnasium, Cologne’s oldest secondary school.

Daniel César Martn Brühl González Domingo is a German-Spanish actor and director. For his parts in Das Weisse Rauschen (The White Sound) (2001), Nichts Bereuen (No Regrets) (2001), and Vaya con Dios (2001), he got his first German Film Award for Best Actor (2002). His performance as the lead in the German film Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) received widespread acclaim and critical acclaim, earning him the European Film Award for Best Actor as well as another German Film Award for Best Actor. Brühl began performing at a young age despite having no professional acting instruction. He was involved in children’s theater at school and made his first money at the age of eight doing radio plays, followed by work in a dubbing studio, which led to one of the dubbing actors recommending the teenager to a talent agency. He has been in a relationship with Felicitas Rombold, a practising psychotherapist, academician, and former model and Broadway performer, since 2010. Their first child was born in October 2016, and they married between then and early 2018. In 2020, the couple welcomed their second child.
