David Hains is a horse breeder and businessman from Australia.
Hains received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Melbourne. He began his career as an engineer and then moved on to corporate restructuring. Hains invests globally in equities, fixed income, property, and managed funds through his Portland House Group, Australia’s largest hedge fund, which he manages with his children. He sold an investment to Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel for US$107 million in 1993.
At his Kingston Park Stud in Merricks North, Victoria, Hains breeds horses.
