Flavio Briatore Biography
Briatore was born to a family of elementary school teachers in Verzuolo, near Cuneo, in the Maritime Alps. After failing public (state) school twice, he transferred to a private (independent) school, where he graduated with the lowest grades in Land Surveying from Fassino di Busca high school. Briatore began his career as a ski instructor and restaurant manager. He named his restaurant Tribüla after Briatore’s nickname. Due to excessive debt, the restaurant was forced to close.
He moved to Cuneo in the 1970s and worked as an assistant to businessman Attilio Dutto, owner of the Paramatti Vernici paint company. Dutto was killed in a car bomb attack by an unknown perpetrator on March 21, 1979.
Briatore relocated to Milan and began working for Finanziaria.

Flavio Briatore is a businessman from Italy. In Italy, he began his career as a restaurant manager and insurance salesman. Briatore was convicted in Italy in the 1980s on several fraud charges and sentenced to two years in prison, but the convictions were later overturned by an amnesty. As a fugitive, Briatore established a number of successful Benetton franchises in the Virgin Islands and the United States. Luciano Benetton promoted him in 1990 to manage the Benetton Formula One racing team, which became Renault F1 in 2002. From 2007 to 2011, he was a part-owner and chairman of Queens Park Rangers F.C. in London. Briatore was forced to resign from the ING Renault F1 team in September 2009 due to his involvement in race fixing at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. Briatore was barred indefinitely from any FIA-sanctioned events after the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) conducted its own investigation, though this ban was later overturned by a French Tribunal de Grande Instance.
Outside of Formula One, Briatore has developed a diverse portfolio of business interests, many of which revolve around fashion.
In 1998, he founded the Billionaire nightclub [it] brand and owns a club in Sardinia; in August 2012, he opened another Billionaire club in Marbella under that name, along with a haute couture line, Billionaire Italian Couture. In addition, he opened Cipriani’s restaurant in Mayfair, London, in 2004 and owned 48.9% of the pharmaceutical company Pierrel [it] until 2007. He also owns a Tuscan beach club and Lion in the Sun, a Kenyan vacation resort.
Flavio Briatore Personal Life
He became engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell in 1998, and the couple had an on-again, off-again relationship until their divorce in 2003. Campbell now considers Briatore her “mentor”.
Briatore began dating supermodel Heidi Klum in March 2003. She announced her pregnancy in December. Soon after, the couple divorced, and Klum began dating musician Seal. Klum gave birth to Leni Klum in New York City in May 2004. According to Klum, Briatore is not involved in Leni’s life; she has stated emphatically that “Seal is Leni’s father”. Briatore gave Seal permission to adopt and rename his daughter in 2009.
On June 14, 2008, Briatore married ‘Wonderbra’ model Elisabetta Gregoraci. In 2010, Gregoraci gave birth to their son in Nice, France.
Briatore founded the political party Movimento del Fare in 2019.
