Vaynerchuk was born in Babruysk, Soviet Union (now part of Belarus), and moved to New York City, United States, when he was three years old. He is of Jewish Ashkenazi descent. Vaynerchuk grew up in New York City’s Queens borough before moving to Edison, New Jersey. He began working in his family’s retail wine business when he was 14 years old. He is also a co-founder of Empathy Wines, a winery that was acquired by Constellation Brands in 2020. The creator and founder of the VeeFriends non-fungible token series is Vaynerchuk. VaynerX, a communications company that owns media properties and technology companies, is led by Vaynerchuk. Vaynerchuk founded The Gallery, later renamed Gallery Media Group, in 2017, as a VaynerX subsidiary company that houses PureWow, the male-oriented news outlet ONE37pm.com, and other media properties.
