Dunst was born on April 30, 1982, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, at Point Pleasant Hospital. Dunst’s father was a medical services executive for Siemens, while her mother was a flight attendant for Lufthansa. She was also a painter and former gallery owner. Dunst’s German father is originally from Hamburg, while her American mother is of German and Swedish ancestry. Dunst grew up in Brick Township, New Jersey, and attended Ranney School in Tinton Falls until the age of eleven.After her parents divorced, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother and brother in 1993.
