Shatta Wale Biography
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. was born to Charles Nii Armah Mensah Sr. and Elsie Evelyn Avemegah in Accra, Ghana on October 17, 1984 at the Police Hospital. His father is an attorney, businessman, and politician.
Shatta Wale showed an interest in the arts while he was a student at the Seven Great Princes Academy in the Accra neighborhood of Dansoman, where he also performed in the well-liked drama series By the Fireside at the National Theatre of Ghana. His second cycle of schooling was completed at the Winneba Secondary School after that. He began his brief musical career under the alias Doggy, which he adopted in honor of Yoggy Doggy, his favorite DanceHall performer at the time.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician. Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana, is his stage name. “Dancehall King,” “My Level,” and “We Taking Over” are his most well-known singles. He is also known for his contribution to Beyoncé’s Black is King album, Already, which featured Major Lazer. His song “Dancehall King” earned him Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2014. Wale has also acted in films such as Never Say Never, The Trial of Shatta Wale, and Shattered Lives. Wale’s 2004 album “Moko Hoo” received a Ghana Music Award nomination. In 2014, he was ranked 38th on E.tv’s “Top 100 Most Influential Ghanaians” Awards list. He has appeared on the chart every year since then. In 2017, he was named the “Most Influential Musician” on social media. He set a dancehall artist record by winning 11 awards at the 2019 3 Music Awards ceremony.
In 2019, he also had a collaboration with Beyoncé on her album The Lion King: The Gift titled “Already,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Wale became a brand ambassador for Guinness Ghana Breweries in 2014, as well as Rush Energy Drink.
Kasapreko Company, producers of several alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in Ghana, announced Wale as their newest Storm Energy Drink brand ambassador in September 2017.

Shatta Wale has three children, two boys and one girl. His daughter Cherrisa lives with him, and his son Majesty lives with his mother, Shatta Michy. He has another son who lives with his mother in London.
