Wlaschiha was born in the Dresden district of Dohna. He went to Agawam, Massachusetts, United States, as an exchange student when he was 17 years old, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He stayed for a year, acting in the theater and studying English. He is also fluent in French, Italian, and Russian.
