Zari Hassan Biography
Zari Hassan was born in Uganda on September 23, 1980. She grew up with four other siblings: Zuleha Hassan, Asha Hassan, Zara Hassan, and Abdul Karim Hassan. The Boss Lady is of mixed ancestry; her maternal grandfather is Indian, her maternal grandmother is Ugandan, and her paternal grandmother is Burundian.
Zari Hassan finished secondary school at Jinja Girls High School. She was involved in music, drama, and dance groups in school. Her talent earned her the award for best actress for the second year in a row.

Zarinah Hassan, also known as Zari Hassan, alias Zari the Boss Lady, is a Ugandan socialite, musician, and businesswoman who lives and works in South Africa. She is the heir and CEO of Brooklyn City College (BCC), a diverse, progressive educational institute based in South Africa that she co-founded with her late husband Ivan Ssemwanga. BCC’s main campus is in Pretoria, and it has satellite campuses in Polokwane, Durban, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Vereeniging, and Rustenburg.
Zari Hassan Personal Life
After two years in the United Kingdom, Hassan returned to Uganda in 2000. She later relocated to South Africa, where she met and married Ivan Semwanga. They had three children. They divorced in 2013 after Hassan accused Semwanga of abusing her physically.
Semwanga suffered a massive stroke in May 2017 and was admitted to Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
He passed away on May 25, 2017. He was laid to rest in Uganda.
Following the funeral, Hassan returned to South Africa to manage her own businesses as well as some of her late husband’s. Diamond Platnumz, a Tanzanian artist, has given her two children.
